Mech Every Day #96: King Crab

All paints used are from Army Painter unless otherwise noted.
This miniature was primed with Matt White spray. It was first given a coat of Steiner Blue (High Lord Blue). The gold sections were given an overall coat of Banshee Brown, then drybrushed with multiple coats starting with pure Emperor Gold. Further coats mixed in more and more Bright Gold, until a coat of just Bright Gold. This was followed with mixing Parade Chrome (Shining Silver) in with the Bright Gold until only Parade Chrome remained, then a final drybrush with 50/50 Parade Chrome and Matt White. The black sections were then painted with Matt Black and drybrushed with Death Commando (Deep Grey) and Gray Death (Ash Grey). The freehanded scowling Oni was painted using Ultramarine Blue and The Darkness. The cockpit and bands on the antennae were done with Ricol Red (Pure Red); the large laser was painted with Emperor Gold, Bright Gold, and jeweled; and the AC/20s are Emperor Gold with Widow Black (Grim Black) in the muzzles. The base was finished with Apple Barrel Matte Black.

Maps! I love them, especially for BattleTech. I find the ebb and flow of the national borders endlessly fascinating. All of the maps in this post are based directly on official BattleTech sources, just reduced in size and colored to emphasize each state. This first map depicts the Inner Sphere in 2596, at the end of the Age of War and the beginning of the Star League. The ten major states of this period have formed, most of which will continue on through the centuries to come. In the center is the Terran Hegemony (gray). The Lyran Commonwealth is in blue, Free Worlds League in purple, green for the Capellan Confederation, yellow for the Federated Suns, and red for the Draconis Combine. Model: BattleMaster BLR-1G Mass and Tech Base: 85 tons (Assault) / Inner Sphere Miniature Source: BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat Paint Scheme: Davion Brigade of Guards (pre-Federated Commonwealth) Notable Pilot: Hanse Davion All paints used are from Army Painter unless otherwise noted. This miniature was primed with Ultramarine Blue spray. It was then given a coat of Citadel Agrax Earthshade. The chest was painted with Ultramarine Blue, but then the entire piece was given instead a drybrush of Ultramarine Blue followed by Donegal Blue (Runic Cobalt). Details include Parade Chrome (Shining Silver), Ricol Red (Pure Red), Matt White, Bounty Hunter Green (Shamrock Green), Kurita Red (Blood Red), Ironclad Grey, Avalon Gray (Brigade Grey), and Widow Black (Grim Black).
